The St. Louis Cardinals signed free agent infielder Ramon Urias to a one-year deal on Saturday.

Financial terms of the contract, which includes a mutual option for 2027, were not disclosed.

The Athletic reported it was a $2 million deal -- $1.5 million in 2026 with a $500,000 buyout for 2027. It also includes up to $2 million in incentives based on plate appearances, per the report.

Urias, 31, split the 2025 season with the Baltimore Orioles and Houston Astros and batted .241 with 11 homers and 44 RBIs in 112 games.

He is a career .257 hitter with 50 home runs and 215 RBIs in 541 games with the Orioles (2020-25) and Astros (2025). He won a Gold Glove at third base in 2022 and also has experience playing second base, shortstop, and first base.

To make room for Urias on the 40-man roster, the Cardinals designated 27-year-old right-hander Zak Kent (1-0, 4.58 ERA in 2025) for assignment.
